JDL Criteria

Please read the following before submitting your Junior Development league expression of interest.

Our JDL trials provide an opportunity for us to fill a limited number of places available in our Junior Development (JDL) squads for the 2027 season.

​

At JDL trials, successful applicants will be assessed by a team of qualified coaches on:

• Technical ability

• Tactical awareness

• Physical attributes

• Attitude and coachability

​

Applicants are encouraged to consider carefully before applying, and be confident that they have the required skill and commitment to play at a higher level of competition, and must have the following;

​

• A proven history of skill and commitment to play at a higher level

• The desire and determination to play in a JDL environment which includes an extended match season that runs March to September (including some mid-week and school holiday fixtures).

• The commitment to train a minimum of two training sessions per week, with additional training sessions at various points during the season.

• Candidates must also commit to be available for preseason training.

Trials attendance is by invite only and successful candidates will be contacted with trial details. Players are required to trial in their actual age group – our coaches will approach any players who they feel may be eligible to play in a higher age group.

Candidates invited to trial will be assessed along with existing JDL players from our current squads.

Expressions of interest for our Girls, JCL and JDL teams will open off our website in the near future.

Joondalup City also has existing Junior Community League (JCL) squads from U13’s upwards.   Expressions of interest for places in these squads will open at a later date on our website to fill any vacancies in teams competing in the 2027 season.
